Concept for extention and refurbishment of BWA Gallery / former Hatzfeld Palace in Wrocław

The project was created within the "Re-Form" workshop organized by BWA-Awangarda and the Transformator Art Foundation. The aim of the workshop was to search for a new functional and spatial formula for the largest gallery of contemporary art in Wrocław, and the building which houses the preserved remains of the former Hatzfeld Palace - currently in very poor technical condition.The main premise of the design is to continue the palimpsest formula of overlapping architectural layers and transformations. The proposed intervention proposes the form of a bridge overhanging the existing object and thus allowing to preserve the historical tissue practically on the verge of exploitation. At the same time this measure would allow to bring back the proper historical scale and urban order to Wita Stwosza Street. More at the link (PL version only):
